Emmaus Ministries
Teaching people how to engage the Bible is at the heart of Emmaus Ministries.
Emmaus Ministries exist to equip the body of Christ with the word of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ using Inductive Bible Study, Community life and authentic relationships. We believe that studying the Bible is the best way for us to follow in the way of Jesus. We accomplish this goal in three ways.
Inductive Bible Study- The aim of Inductive Bible study is to draw conclusions from the text of scripture. The modern reader is forced to put aside any preconceived notions and attempt to read the scripture in its original context. At the center of this method is the question, what does this mean to the original readers. Once we can see how the text convicted, instructed and encouraged the original audience we can better apply that scripture to our lives.
Community Life- God has created us to live in community. In Acts chapter 2 we see that God chooses to dwell in his new temple, His church. We are not called to study the Bible or follow Jesus alone. God so often uses community to challenge and encourage the believer.
Authentic Relationships- We don't just seek to teach the Bible, Rather our aim is to share our very lives. We believe that when we are vulnerable, our students are able to better learn and grow to become more like christ. This is why each student is assigned a staff one on one that they regularly meet with throughout the year.
Emmaus Ministries runs 3 different ministries.
School of Biblical Studies- a 10 month school where students write their own commentaries on certain chapters of the Bible. In this school, students study and attend lectures on each book of the Bible.
Biblical Narrative Series- 7 week night courses that help teach people the main themes and historical background to each book of the Bible. We provide an Old Testament and New Testament Course. Each course is designed to equip people with tools to study the bible on their own.
Seminars- We partner with churches all around the greater orlando area. These Seminars include a Bible overview course and a course exploring Inductive Bible Study.
